Well, I've got onShipDone to work and display a message. I've not tried
onAbort, I assume it works too...

Anyway, I've put a little demo up at:

If you install this plugin (and assuming it doesn't conflict with some
other plugin) then, whenever you land on a planet, then take off, a single
pirate ship will attack you. Destroying the ship triggers the quote, and
also auto-aborts the mission.
