I think the problem is that EV is so memorable/addictive.  Whenever I think
of an EV (or anything else, for that matter) plotline, it always stays
within the limits done in the games...  Maybe I'm just an uncreative person,
but it seems that if you found someone who has never played EV and gave him
(or her) the specifics of the engine and said "Give me a universe" then
you'd get a reasonably unique universe.  Paying them would help too...

But, actually, I think the plotlines in EVN are really cool.  I've only
finished one (I'm making a website, that's my excuse) but it was really
cool.  Don't count your gift chickens' mouths before you've finished playing
through all the missions.
