Really? The entire game engine sort of depends on the fact that it's
single-player, or so I've heard. A multiplayer version would require

MMORPGs are not easy to make. Even when you get the game engine and universe
done, it would require massive resources to keep going. Ambrosia is a
shareware company. They're not Blizzard.
Plus, plug-ins would not work in this environment. What if you ran into
someone who was using a ship that didn't exist in the original scenario?
Plug-ins would have to go the way of the modal dialog box and the useless
force quit window.
I won't even get into the "EV deathmatch" ideas.
It ain't gonna happen. Period. Check out World of Warcraft or something...
