1.  go to the nova addons site
(http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evn/addons.html).  check the utilities, a
new version of novatools was put up there recently.
2.  get resedit
3.  install (simple)
4.  read the nova bible and figure it out.

systems are easier than ships, much less technical.  you can, however,
easily tweak ship stats, but thats böring.  unless you want 30 pulse lasers.

the best way to design anything is to play the game a lot.  you get a real
good feel for everything, and what you would like done.  if i didnt have
school, id be writing stuff everyday, only because ive played it so
extensively.
